I got into Dallas last night after camping for two nights at Meredith Lake near Amarillo. I found a really secluded spot to camp for free and the view was gorgeous.

There’s something about travel and the open road that seems to catalyze ideas and dreams. Yesterday I was riding through these back roads… small town Texas… just flying along and all of a sudden there are these four STALLIONS just bolting along the side the road. It was AWESOME. There was no fence or anything… maybe they were wild..? I’m not sure… but they were running and LIVING and thriving. I rode up along beside them and they were running along with me and my bike. It was such a memorable experience. It’s those moments that make the soreness of riding and the cramped uncomfortable tent worth it.

I’ve written down a lot of thoughts that I’ll probably share over the next few days. I am really excited about the possibilities of The World Awaits. I realized that I haven’t really shared my heart.. the dreams that I hope God can accomplish through this organization. I’ll try to let them flow the next few days…

I did a quick tune-up on my bike today.. and all things considered.. she’s holding up pretty well. There are a few ongoing problems I’m getting concerned about though. The oil leak is not going anywhere and the battery is losing fluids pretty rapidly. I’m not sure what’s up with the battery (it’s only three weeks old)… but I know it was the source of my problem in the Grand Canyon. I got some distilled water to keep the levels topped up… but it’s clear that there’s a deeper cause somewhere along the line. Hopefully she’ll hold up until I get to Dallas.

I’ll be camping for the next few nights so I’ll be MIA for awhile. It was nice to stay here in Albuquerque but I’m eager to move on. Looking forward to getting out on the road again.

I got into Albuerquerque last night and I’ve been staying at my friend Zico’s place. He moved down here a few months ago and it’s pretty awesome that he just happened be right along my route. He’s always been an inspiration to me… the guy deeply loves God and it shows in his life. He moved down here to be with his girlfriend and we all had the chance to hang out last night at Denny’s. After a long day on a motorcycle… a nice hearty American meal really hit the spot.. ; )

The ride from Flagstaff was slow and steady. I’m learning to take my time and take lots of rests… so it took me pretty much the whole day. The ride was almost entirely through Navajo country and I was able to meet a few locals along the way. I’ve always been deeply intrigued by Native American culture… and I had a chance to stop in Acoma which is literally ‘The city in the Sky’. It’s the oldest known continuously inhabited city (so they say) and it’s up on a huge plateau. It was pretty incredible. I also passed through Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert. The south-western US is proving to be full of hidden gems. I hope to come back one day and explore more thoroughly.

So I’ll be posted up here at Zico’s place for a few days. I’ve been trying to work on the site a bit.. made a few changes here and there. I’m really trying to push for pledges so I put together some graphics to liven things up a bit. There’s still a long way to go.. gotta have more faith. Doubt and discouragement are like two flies that never seem to go away.. no matter how much you swat away at them. I’m still determined to push on though… and I believe that somehow… the God who called me is faithful and will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24). I’m really not sure how… but I guess that’s where trust comes in.

Here are a few of the graphics I worked on today.. click them if you like~! ; )

Sedona, Arizona

Today I caught up on rest and established a game plan for the next few days. I also had a chance to ride down to Sedona and catch the sunset. It was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. I wish the pictures did it justice!

The beauty of God's creation

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

The Grand Canyon at Sunrise

Got into Flagstaff early this morning. Was in Grand Canyon yesterday and had my first break-down right as I came upon the Southern Rim. I went to go take in the view (which was awesome).. but when I came back my bike wouldn’t start. I spent the next hour or two systematically checking the electrical system on my bike. It was pretty bad… had my bags all opened up.. bike partly disassembled… a nice big yard sale in the viewing point parking lot. The sun had just set… and things were looking grim. I decided to pray (why hadn’t I thought of that before?) and reluctantly started packing things back up. My plan at this point was to push my bike to a campground and work on it in the morning.

At just that moment.. a couple approached me and asked if they could help. It was odd, because nobody has asked me up to that point.. and by this time it looked like I had things together. They spoke only broken english… the wife translating for the husband. To make a long story short.. by the grace of God and a mechanically savvy Hungarian man named Alex… my bike roared to life!

It was one of those moments that just puts you in awe of God’s providence. I thanked the Hungarian couple profusely.. exchanged emails.. and headed off to the campsite. I stumbled to set up my tent in the dark.. and found some light to read a Psalm before bed. The one I came across sums it all up..

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his ;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 100
