Future Possibilities

I have a meeting with the executive director of Future Possibilities tomorrow.  It’s an incredible program that helps empower children to make a difference in the world.  We’re going to be discussing the idea of creating a ‘Starter Kit’ so that people can take this program around the world.  It’s pretty exciting!

Here’s a video of the program:

Headin North..

Monday, September 1st, 2008

There’s some fierce weather on it’s way due to the hurricane. I’m hoping to ride ahead of it and get as far north as I can .. maybe even to Kansas City. We’ll see how far the bike gets me today. I’ve already put 2000 miles on it since leaving Los Angeles and it’s starting to show in a few areas.

I’m really encouraged by some of the emails I got about the serveYOURCITY post… so keep them coming if you’re interested in setting up something similar in your city. All it takes is one person to lead and get things rolling.

A friend from the Philippines got in touch and wants to start a ’serveLA’ in her city in the Philippines. As she was imagining the ideas and possibilities… she shared this thought which I think was really interesting…

“..all I know is that most of the selfless people I know who are really involved in touching lives and loving the souls of people are the ones who are truly joyful and fulfilled”

So many conversations over the past few days have weaved along that same thread. I hope that these serveYOURCITY ideas and The World Awaits can help make that happen in people’s lives. Truly joyful and fulfilled… always a good thing to strive towards. =)

So the conference ended yesterday with an AWESOME message from a brother who was from Myanmar. He shared so many incredible stories about people who had great dreams to help others… and put them into action… even though they had next to nothing. Many people were moved to tears. He ended with a charge to all of us. To all of us who dream and have visions of doing something meaningful with our lives. He simply ended his message with these words.. which I think sum up the whole weekend…

“GO! Obey your vision..!!”

Texas

I got into Dallas last night after camping for two nights at Meredith Lake near Amarillo. I found a really secluded spot to camp for free and the view was gorgeous.

There’s something about travel and the open road that seems to catalyze ideas and dreams. Yesterday I was riding through these back roads… small town Texas… just flying along and all of a sudden there are these four STALLIONS just bolting along the side the road. It was AWESOME. There was no fence or anything… maybe they were wild..? I’m not sure… but they were running and LIVING and thriving. I rode up along beside them and they were running along with me and my bike. It was such a memorable experience. It’s those moments that make the soreness of riding and the cramped uncomfortable tent worth it.

I’ve written down a lot of thoughts that I’ll probably share over the next few days. I am really excited about the possibilities of The World Awaits. I realized that I haven’t really shared my heart.. the dreams that I hope God can accomplish through this organization. I’ll try to let them flow the next few days…

Moving forward

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

I’m set to depart in under 48 hours, and I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed. There’s so much running through my head right now. I’ve never done anything like this before… which makes it both daunting and incredibly exciting. This is essentially just a ‘crazy idea’ that I’ve decided to move on… so I’ll be figuring it out as I go along. I don’t know how it’s going to work… or if it’s even GOING to work.. but it feels like what I’m supposed to do at this point in my life. I need to move forward.
