Albuquerque, New Mexico
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008I got into Albuerquerque last night and I’ve been staying at my friend Zico’s place. He moved down here a few months ago and it’s pretty awesome that he just happened be right along my route. He’s always been an inspiration to me… the guy deeply loves God and it shows in his life. He moved down here to be with his girlfriend and we all had the chance to hang out last night at Denny’s. After a long day on a motorcycle… a nice hearty American meal really hit the spot.. ; )
The ride from Flagstaff was slow and steady. I’m learning to take my time and take lots of rests… so it took me pretty much the whole day. The ride was almost entirely through Navajo country and I was able to meet a few locals along the way. I’ve always been deeply intrigued by Native American culture… and I had a chance to stop in Acoma which is literally ‘The city in the Sky’. It’s the oldest known continuously inhabited city (so they say) and it’s up on a huge plateau. It was pretty incredible. I also passed through Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert. The south-western US is proving to be full of hidden gems. I hope to come back one day and explore more thoroughly.
So I’ll be posted up here at Zico’s place for a few days. I’ve been trying to work on the site a bit.. made a few changes here and there. I’m really trying to push for pledges so I put together some graphics to liven things up a bit. There’s still a long way to go.. gotta have more faith. Doubt and discouragement are like two flies that never seem to go away.. no matter how much you swat away at them. I’m still determined to push on though… and I believe that somehow… the God who called me is faithful and will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24). I’m really not sure how… but I guess that’s where trust comes in.
Here are a few of the graphics I worked on today.. click them if you like~! ; )
